plants that speak to the water :: the moon, pluto + neptune medicine
for memory, for dreams, for the things we carry in the blood
some things are not meant to be “fixed.” some things only need to be felt. some wounds never asked to be erased ~ only witnessed, slowly, with the right company.
water is the element of feeling, remembering, dissolving, softening. in the body, it is lymph, blood, mucous, tears. in the soul, it is the stories that ache inside us. the things we dream, the griefs we inherited, the longings….
water is the carrier of memory and emotion. it has the ability to absorb, store, and transmit energy holding the imprint of its environment, intentions, history, and human emotions. just as water shapes itself to whatever vessel contains it, it also shapes itself around the frequencies it encounters.
Many teachings affirm that speaking words of love, prayer, or gratitude into water can influence its structure, creating harmony on a subtle, energetic level. since our bodies are mostly made of water, these imprints affect us on deep physical and emotional planes.. Healing can begin with the most essential and ancient of elements.
there is something about returning to a body of water our ancestors have known ~ springs, rivers, ocean shores that held the hands, the births, and the tears of those who came before us. these waters carry codes. they remember the grief that was never spoken, the blessings, the cycles of washing, birthing, feeding, and letting go.
when we consciously return to these waters physically or in spirit, we re-enter a current of ancestral memory. we let the water hold us. we let it witness what we no longer need to carry. in this way, water becomes a mirror, a messenger, and a healer. a quiet, flowing medicine that helps us feel what was once unfelt, and release what was once frozen. it flows beside us quietly, holding space for when we’re ready to return to what was never lost.
Three planets move the waters of our psyche
☽ the moon :: emotional memory, early life, nourishment, body rhythms, tides of sensitivity
♆ neptune :: dreams, illusions, the soul’s longing, mysticism, confusion, transcendence
♇ pluto :: trauma, death, rebirth, power, shadow, cellular memory, ancestral healing
they each speak a different dialect of the same language.
☽ the moon :: plants that soothe, soften, nourish the waters
the moon lives in the limbic system ~ in the part of the brain that remembers what we felt before we had words. the moon governs hunger, sleep, safety, mothering, and emotional tides. when the moon is speaking through the body we may feel swollen, tender, or overwhelmed.
examples of lunar plants:
✺ marshmallow root ~ soothes dryness and supports mucous membranes
✺ oats ~ for nervous system depletion
✺ mugwort ~ for dream recall and emotional digestion
✺ reishi ~ for spiritual immunity and gentle holding
✺ wild lettuce ~ for sleepwalking through grief
these are the ones we lean on when we feel “too much.”
they remind us that feeling is not the problem. not feeling is.
♇ pluto :: plants that guide through darkness + rebirth
pluto moves through the deep layers of life, where old forms reach their end and something new begins to take shape. it brings death. metaphorical, sometimes literal. in order to bring renewal. its work is in the subconscious, in the DNA, in the ancestral trauma we didn’t choose but now carry.
examples of plutonian plants:
✺ black cohosh ~ for reproductive system & grief in the pelvis
✺ false unicorn root ~ for hormonal deepwork, fertility, broken trust in the body
✺ dragon’s blood ~ for sealing spiritual wounds and psychic bleeding
✺ ayahuasca ~ for ancestral processing and non-linear rebirth
✺ saw palmetto ~ for issues of power, control, and softening rigid masculinity
✺ mandrake ~ a guide of the underworld
pluto doesn’t care if it’s comfortable. it cares if it’s real.
these plants that don’t turn away from your pain ~ they help you compost it.
♆ neptune :: plants of the dreamworld + collective soul
neptune dissolves. it wants no boundaries, no edges, no “me” or “you.” neptune’s realm is where poetry lives, and music, and spirit. but it’s also where we get lost in illusion, addiction, or fantasy. when neptune is strong we feel everything and nothing, we may forget where our pain ends and someone else’s begins.
examples of neptunian plants:
✺ blue lotus ~ opens the third eye, used for dreamwork
✺ passionflower ~ eases psychic overwhelm, calms looping thoughts
✺ mugwort (again) ~ a bridge between moon and neptune
✺ magic mushrooms ~ for dissolving ego boundaries and accessing non-linear healing
neptunian medicine teaches us how to dream responsibly.
how to soften into the mystic without leaving our body behind.
moon plants mother us.
pluto plants strip us.
neptune plants dissolve us.
each one speaks to the water in us ~ the blood, the lymph, the tears...
they help us hold what has been stored, and release what was too much to carry alone.
we are not meant to do this work in isolation. plants stay with us, they walk beside us in the in between, helping us to feel what was forgotten..
